This striking suzani originates from the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan and dates to the 1970s. Measuring 66 inches by 56 inches (168 cm x 142 cm), the textile features traditional cotton embroidery on a fine cream-colored cotton ground. The piece remains in very good condition, showing only slight staining, and is reinforced with a patterned cotton trade cloth backing for durability.
The composition is dominated by a bold, centralized solar medallion in deep magenta and coral, a hallmark of Tashkent suzani design. This central disk is surrounded by rhythmic, swirling "S-curve" or leaf-like scrolls in a dark forest green, which radiate outward to fill the cream-colored field. At each of the four corners, stylized pomegranate or floral motifs in magenta provide a visual anchor. The entire artwork is framed by a simple set of linear borders in dark green and magenta, emphasizing the graphic, high-contrast nature of the embroidery.
