This vibrant silk panel from Japan dates to the mid-Showa period (1950–1975). Measuring 26 inches by 70 inches (66 cm x 178 cm), the textile is crafted from fine, scarf-weight silk that retains a delicate, fluid drape. The piece is in very good condition.
The panel features a bold composition of auspicious motifs created through the shibori (resist-dyeing) technique. Set against a luminous magenta-pink ground, the design includes large, fan-shaped sensu motifs in shades of spring green and golden yellow. These fans are further decorated with white resist-dyed floral and leaf patterns. Interspersed between the fans are smaller, stylized floral blossoms and triple-leaf clusters, all executed with characteristic soft, "blurred" edges that signify the hand-tied nature of authentic shibori.
