This exquisite textile fragment, originating from China during the first half of the 19th century (1800–1850), represents one-quarter of a ceremonial embroidered collar. Measuring 12 inches by 7 inches (30 cm x 18 cm), the section features a complex, multi-lobed silhouette with a deep, dark green silk border that defines its architectural shape.

The central motif is a large, circular medallion executed in metallic gold couching, containing a stylized "Shou" character (symbolizing longevity) or a similar auspicious fretwork pattern. Flanking this central emblem are two soaring phoenixes, their plumage rendered in a vibrant palette of coral, turquoise, and cream using silk satin stitch. The lower field is adorned with lush peony blossoms and smaller floral sprays, further emphasizing themes of prosperity and beauty. The entire composition is worked onto a pale celadon-green silk ground. This piece remains in good condition.
