This striking silk fukusa (gift cover), dating to the Meiji period (1868–1912), features one of Japan’s most iconic auspicious pairings: the crane and the rising sun. Measuring 26 inches by 30 inches (66 cm x 76 cm), the textile is rendered on a high-quality cream silk ground that has taken on a warm, antique patina.
