This charming needlepoint panel, dating from the 18th to early 19th century (1725–1825), was originally used as a decorative pillow. The artwork depicts a woman in a highly detailed, patterned gown and a flowing headdress, standing in a lush garden. She is surrounded by stylized trees with broad leaves, a bird in flight, and a pheasant or similar large bird on the ground beside her.
The panel showcases expert needlework, utilizing petitpoint for the fine details of the woman’s face and floral-patterned dress, while the red background and surrounding foliage are executed in gros point. Measuring 18 inches by 18 inches (46 cm x 46 cm), the piece is in very good condition for its age. While it shows moderate damage and thread loss specifically within the woman's dress area and fairly even light wear throughout, the vibrancy of the pigments and the integrity of the garden scene remain well-preserved.
