This expansive Miao textile hails from the Guizhou province of China and dates to the final quarter of the 20th century (1975–2000). Measuring 32 inches by 29 inches (81 cm x 74 cm), the piece is in excellent condition and showcases the rhythmic precision of late-century ethnic minority craftsmanship. The composition features dense, multi-colored hand-embroidery in satin or silk threads set against a substantial black cotton base.

The central field is a mesmerizing grid of interlocking hexagonal and diamond motifs, rendered in a warm palette of terracotta, cream, and deep charcoal. These geometric forms are characterized by sharp, angular outlines and internal "X" and "H" shapes, which are traditional markers of the Miao visual lexicon often representing ancestral paths or agricultural landscapes. The interior field is enclosed by a series of complex borders: a fine black-and-tan serrated band followed by a wide outer frame featuring a continuous "wave" or "winding river" pattern in terracotta and cream.
