The family crest consists of falcon feathers connotations to both the military and several Japanese shrines. The mandarin crane stands for good fortune and long life. The minogame is a Japanese mythological animal - with a life span of 10,000 years - that is part turtle, part dragon, symbolizing longevity and good luck. The turtle or minogame is a constant companion of the crane in story and in art. It was the carrier of precious things and a messenger of good omen, particularly the words of gods.
