This vibrant suzani originates from the Lenidabad region of Tajikistan (modern-day Khujand) and dates to the 1970s. Measuring approximately 44 inches by 46 inches (112 cm x 117 cm), this small-format textile is in very good condition. The piece is composed of dense hand-embroidery on a brilliant magenta-pink cotton base, a signature palette of the Tajik embroidery schools which often favor high-saturation grounds.
The central composition features a bold, symmetrical arrangement of mirrored leaf or paisley motifs (islimi) in cream, which enclose a central black and gold floral rosette. Surrounding this core are several black-petaled flowers with gold centers and teal-green foliage, creating a garden-like atmosphere. The field is framed by a double border: an inner scalloped band in ochre and a wider outer frame featuring a repeating pattern of white and black floral sprigs. The entire piece is finished with a dark, olive-green protective edge, highlighting the architectural precision of the Tajik design.
