his elegant silk fukusa (gift cover), dating to the latter part of the 19th century (1875–1900), is a rich assembly of auspicious motifs. Measuring approximately 26 inches by 28 inches, the textile features a serene, atmospheric landscape painted onto a cream silk ground.

The composition brings together the "Four Friends" of longevity and endurance:

• The Pine and Crane: A gnarled, resilient pine tree clings to a rocky outcrop over a turbulent stream, while a flight of three cranes—symbols of a thousand years of life—soars toward a setting red sun.
• The Minogame: On the far bank, an ancient long-haired tortoise (minogame) rests, its seaweed-like tail representing the passage of centuries.
• Sagara Embroidery: The landscape is dotted with small, delicate flowers rendered in sagara (knot) embroidery, which provides a tactile, three-dimensional contrast to the fluid brushwork of the water and mountains.

The piece is topped with a bold red silk border featuring white resist-dyed "mist" horizontal lines. While in good condition with a characteristic age patina, there is noticeable soiling on both the front and back, reflecting its historical use in gift-giving ceremonies.
