This refined oil-on-silk painting originates from India and dates to the mid-20th century, approximately 1925–1975. Measuring 20 inches by 40 inches (51 cm x 102 cm), the artwork is in excellent condition and was crafted for the export trade in a style reminiscent of colonial-era Indian miniatures. The painting features a complex, wide-format composition depicting a royal gathering or durbar within an architectural garden setting.

The central focus is a noble figure seated upon an ornate throne under a grand, open-air pavilion. He is surrounded by numerous courtiers, attendants, and petitioners dressed in traditional tunics and turbans in a diverse palette of lavender, teal, ochre, and crimson. To the left, a smaller secondary pavilion houses additional figures engaged in conversation. The background is lush with stylized flowering trees and cypress evergreens set against a bright blue sky. The entire scene is enclosed within a wide, chocolate-brown border featuring a continuous scrolling vine of pale pink and white flowers.
