This chirimen-silk jacket is a beautiful celebration of seasonal transition, utilizing the expressive potential of silk-screen printing to create a lush, all-over botanical composition. The garment is rendered on a warm, sandy-ochre silk ground, providing a serene architectural field for the rhythmic placement of its foliage.
The primary design features large-scale, silkscreened autumn maple leaves (momiji) in a sophisticated autumnal palette of deep chocolate-brown, russet-orange, and pale cream. Scattered smaller leaves in a bright lemon-yellow provide vibrant highlights that animate the composition. The use of chirimen—a silk crepe known for its distinctively crimped, matte surface—gives the fabric a soft, luxurious drape and a textural depth that allows the printed colors to appear more saturated.
It measures 50 inches (127 cm) from sleeve-end to sleeve-end and stands at 37 inches (94 cm) in height.
