Measuring 66 inches by 50 inches (168 cm x 127 cm), the piece is constructed on a sturdy navy-blue felted flannel wool base. Based on its scale and unhemmed edges, it appears to have originally served as a blanket or a significant furniture throw.

The field is densely populated with a repeating pattern of stylized botanical and avian motifs, including what appear to be griffins or heraldic lions interspersed with floral sprays. The design is executed entirely in wool and metal thread cross-stitch, creating a rich, folk-art texture that stands in relief against the dark flannel.
