This embroidered silk panel from Spain dates to the late 19th or very early 20th century (1875–1910). Shaped as a Latin cross, the textile measures 40 inches by 21 inches (102 cm x 53 cm) and is crafted from a cream-yellow silk ground reinforced with a secondary layer of cotton cloth. A handwritten paper note pinned to the reverse dates the piece to "1907," providing a rare and precise historical anchor.
The panel features masterful satin and metal embroidery. At the cruciform intersection, a blue almond-shaped shield (mandorla) contains the "IHS" Christogram in raised gold metallic thread. Below this, a flowing blue banner winds through a vertical vine of climbing roses, which are rendered in delicate pink satin-stitch blossoms and budding green leaves. The piece is in good condition, though slight wear along the extreme edges suggests it was once mounted onto a larger liturgical vestment or altar frontal.
