This distinctive Uzbek cover originates from Uzbekistan and dates to about the year 2000. Measuring approximately 33 inches by 28 inches (84 cm x 71 cm), the piece is in excellent condition and serves as a modern reflection of traditional nomadic aesthetics. It features dense Lakai-influenced embroidery worked onto a heavy black felt-cloth base, providing a sturdy and textured ground for the multi-colored threadwork.
The composition is characterized by a central solar medallion surrounded by an eclectic arrangement of paisleys (boteh), stylized floral discs, and abstract "horn" motifs typical of Lakai tribal designs. The embroidery utilizes a palette of dusty rose, sage green, ochre, and slate blue, creating a muted yet complex color story. The central field is enclosed by a narrow yellow border and a wider outer frame of repeating pomegranate-like icons. Adding to its ornamental value, the piece includes a printed cotton backing and is finished at the bottom with a row of vibrant, multi-colored beaded tassels and a green crochet fringe.
