This exquisite silk embroidery originates from Bukhara, Uzbekistan, a historic center of Central Asian textile arts, and dates to 2000–2005. Measuring 50 inches by 25 inches (127 cm x 64 cm), this vertical panel is in excellent condition. The piece features fine silk needlework on a cream cotton base, utilizing a sophisticated palette derived entirely from natural dyes.
The composition depicts a lush vertical arrangement of flowering shrubs and botanical vines. Large, fan-shaped blossoms in deep madder red and indigo blue serve as the primary focal points, surrounded by a delicate network of scrolling green tendrils and smaller yellow flower buds. The color story is a testament to traditional Uzbek dye-craft: indigo for blues, madder for reds, sumac for maroon, and a combination of pomegranate skin and turmeric for the vibrant yellows. Deep browns and blacks are achieved through the use of walnut skins and barberries. The entire field is enclosed by a matching floral border that maintains the rhythmic botanical movement of the central design.
