" Meisen silk panel in deep vibrant purple. The blooms are in white, pink and burgundy with accenting colors of turquoise and magenta. This is a "dry" silk (tsugumi, which is a silk characterized by irregular threads from using silk fibers that are taken from hatched cocoons - like tussah silk). Although this is a tsugumi fabric it has a more shimmery and soft hand than most I have come across. The edges of this piece are not flawed, rather they are irregular from the weaving process." This textile represents a complete panel from a kimono that has been carefully taken apart and threads picked out. This piece is in excellent condition for its age. There are some patina spots in the white areas.
