A kinsha (fine crepe) kimono, featuring katazome-produced vertical stripes. The silk is fine and soft. The hakkake (lower inner lining) is a yellow kinsha silk, while the orange upper inner doura lining was colored using benibana (expensive dye from safflower). 47” from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 59” height. This striped kimono is typical of those created during the Meiji period kimonos: a few sombre colors, reflecting the restrained “iki” aesthetic of those times.
