Item Details
Mid to late Meiji (1880-1912)
A silk kimono featuring yabane (arrow-feather) motifs. One would expect this to be a meisen kimono, however, this fine and soft silk garment was likely created utilizing a kasuri technique. Narrow sets of vertical stripes run through the center of each yabane motif. There is horizontal silk splitting along the top of the shoulder, so this garment cannot be worn, however, when hung as art, the splits can be hidden. 50” from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 61” height.
