Item Details
Late Meiji period (1880-1912)
An extreme-chirimen silk omeshi kimono featuring an unusual design layout of black/olive-green/black/greenish-yellow/black/red/black rectangular color repeats. The non-black colored rectangles contain a few 3 and 5-color repeats. The crepe silk has threads that are so twisted that the kimono's texture is very dry and rough in the hand. Some sections have a subtle special effect reslting from the appearance of the insertion of gold-colored weft threads. 50" from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 59" height.
